CAPPADOCIA

One of Turkey’s major tourism centers, Cappadocia, attracted near 4 million domestic and international tourists in the first 10 months of this year. In a statement from the Nevşehir Governorship, it was reported that 3,846,703 people visited Cappadocia’s museums and archaeological sites during the first 10 months of 2024.

Governor Ali Fidan, speaking to journalists, said, “The Cappadocia region, one of Turkey’s most significant tourism centers and particularly important for cultural and faith tourism, continues to experience vibrant tourist activity. Looking at the first 10 months’ data, we see that nearly 4 million local and international tourists visited the historical and touristic sites in Cappadocia.”

Fidan added, “This indicates the positive momentum in tourism from last year is continuing. The most visited site this year was the Göreme Open Air Museum, followed by the Zelve Archaeological Site and Kaymaklı Underground City in third place. We see that tourism in the region is now spread throughout all 12 months. Although there may be slight dips in certain months, tourism here continues year-round.”

WE CONTINUE TO WELCOME TOURISTS FROM HOME AND ABROAD’

The governor expressed belief that the opening of new accommodation facilities in the region could foster significant growth in conference tourism. “Interest in our region continues. We are still welcoming tourists from both within Turkey and abroad. As we near the end of the year, we invite local and foreign visitors to experience this extraordinary region during the New Year holidays. We especially invite those who haven’t seen it yet and also those who have already seen Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys, underground cities, valleys, and, of course, the balloon rides to return. We understand that there is so much more for them to experience. Our visitors will also be able to see the local architecture, lifestyle, and, especially, the region’s rich gastronomy and culinary culture.”
