Britain is discussing the tragic death of a woman who came to Turkey for weight loss surgery. The untimely demise of a British mother of two during a weight loss surgery in Turkey has reignited debates about aesthetic surgeries in Turkish hospitals.

The heartbreaking end of Emma Morrissey, who chose Turkey for health tourism, unfolded when an inappropriate gastric sleeve surgery led to an accidental perforation of her abdomen by the surgeon, ultimately resulting in her death.

However, Turkish authorities claimed that the 44-year-old Morrissey passed away from natural causes rather than severe bleeding during the operation, which took place in a private hospital in Antalya.

Expert forensic pathologist Jacqueline Devonish prepared a report indicating that the company responsible for the procedure had not conducted the necessary checks to ensure Morrissey’s suitability for the surgery.

The report details Morrissey’s journey to Turkey on July 6th last year for the gastric sleeve surgery, which involves the removal of a significant portion of the stomach. This service is only offered to individuals who are obese, have tried all other weight loss methods, are willing to make post-operative lifestyle changes, and are in good physical shape and health.
