Travel Turkey: Turkey Expects 1 Million Tourists from China

CHINESE TOURISTS IN TURKEY

There has been a revival in the tourism market in China during the summer holiday period covering July and August. Data indicates that travel bookings for the summer holiday have exceeded pre-pandemic levels. Travel orders increased by 30% in July and August compared to the same period in 2019, according to a report on China International Radio, indicating that demand in China’s consumer market is beginning to emerge.

TRAVEL ABROAD RAPIDLY RECOVERING

According to data released by another leading travel service platform in China, Fliggy, the number of visa transactions conducted through the platform in July increased 13-fold compared to the same period last year. Japan, South Korea, India, Finland, Luxembourg, and Sweden are among the most preferred destinations by Chinese tourists.

In addition, civil aviation data for July showed that the number of people traveling abroad increased by 32.6% compared to the previous month, reaching 3.35 million. With the increasing number of people ready to travel abroad, Turkey is expected to achieve new records in terms of tourist arrivals.

TURKEY EXPECTS TO RECEIVE MORE THAN 1 MILLION CHINESE TOURISTS NEXT YEAR

Turkey’s Consul General in Shanghai, shared following in an interview with the China Media Group; “Seeing Chinese tourists traveling to Turkey in groups has made us very happy. Our initial goal was to reach the number of 500,000 Chinese tourists that we achieved in 2019, and we have surpassed that figure. Hopefully, we will reach 1 million tourists next year, and that is our target.”
