World giant signs agreement with BYD to establish supply factory in Turkey
Forvia, a leading French automotive parts supplier, has partnered with BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, to establish a supply factory in Turkey, marking Forvia’s second European facility. This partnership aims to enhance Forvia’s global reach and expand its collaborations with Chinese automakers like BYD, especially as they enter the European market.
BYD is also investing $1 billion to build an electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturing plant in Manisa, Turkey, with a capacity of 150,000 vehicles annually, expected to be operational by 2026. The factory will create 5,000 jobs and include an R&D center for sustainable mobility. This investment positions Turkey as a strategic production hub for the European automotive market.
Additionally, other Chinese automakers such as Chery, Skywell, and MG are exploring similar investments in Turkey.
China’s Ganfeng Lithium also plans to invest $500 million in partnership with Yiğit Akü, a Turkish battery maker, further strengthening Turkey’s role in the electric vehicle supply chain. These developments could make Turkey a key player in the global EV market while attracting further foreign investment.
