Banks send consecutive messages: All payments will now be made this way

Banks have started sending informative messages to their customers regarding the new regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette last week and prohibits the use of cash for purchases exceeding 7,000 Turkish lira. In these messages, banks reminded their customers that for purchases over this amount, the use of a bank card or credit card is mandatory.
The Era of Cash Payments is Over
Those who receive these messages are surprised to learn that payments over 7,000 lira can no longer be made in cash but must be done using cards. However, this regulation was already published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.
According to the new *Tax Procedure Law Communiqué* published on October 18, cash payments can only be made for small amounts. For transactions exceeding 7,000 lira, payments must be made through financial institutions, either via credit cards or bank cards.
Difficulties for Those Not Using Credit Card
This situation will primarily affect consumers who carry cash and do not use bank or credit cards for their transactions. Those who avoid using credit cards will face challenges with this new rule.
According to the updated communiqué, both the person making the payment and the one receiving it will face separate penalties if they violate the rule and conduct a cash transaction.
Banks Informing Customers
The new cash rule is surprising customers who are unaware of the regulation. Due to potential confusion, banks are informing their customers through SMS, voice calls, and emails.
