Trump’s Latest Threat to Putin: “If There’s No Agreement, Plan B Is Ready”
U.S. President Donald Trump has once again threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin after failing to reach an agreement with him. Trump stated that if a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia does not happen, he will impose new tariffs on Russia.
During his election campaign, Trump claimed, “I can end the war in 24 hours,” but he has still been unable to reach a resolution with Ukraine and Russia.
New Tariffs Threat
Unable to persuade Putin to agree to a ceasefire, Trump threatened the Russian leader with additional tariffs. He mentioned that if a ceasefire is not achieved in Ukraine, he would impose a second round of tariffs on Russian oil.
“I’ll Do It If He Fails to Do His Job”
Trump made the following statement regarding the situation: “I want to see him make a deal. Every week, 2,500 people are losing their lives. I want to be sure he’ll accept a ceasefire, and I believe he will. I don’t want to impose a second tariff on Russian oil, but if I think he’s not doing his job, I’ll do it.”
Rare Earth Elements Agreement on Hold
Trump also reminded that the rare earth elements agreement with Ukraine has not yet been completed. He pointed out that the Ukrainian government wanted to renegotiate the deal, and emphasized that Ukraine views this agreement as a ticket to NATO membership. He also stated that Ukraine’s desire to join NATO is one of the primary reasons for the war.
