TTB: Increase in cases is too much, the measures should come back

The Vice President of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) made a statement about the Covid-19 cases that have increased, recently. He said, “The increase is too much. There is a very rapid rise. It is necessary to take some measures urgently.”

According to weekly Covid-19 data shared by the Ministry of Health, 117,095 cases were recorded, 31 people died between July 4 and 10. Cases increased 2.1 times compared to a week ago, 4.4 times compared to two weeks ago, and 15 times compared to four weeks ago. The daily case average has increased to over 16 thousand.

SERIOUS RISE EXPECTED IN AUTUMN

Evaluating the data TTB official said, “The increase is too much. There is a very rapid rise. It is necessary to take measures, but the government has not made a statement in this direction. It is necessary to take some measures urgently. First of all, it is necessary to return to personal protective measures such as masks, distance and hygiene. The vaccination rate must necessarily be increased. The Ministry of Health should approach the issue more seriously. Unfortunately, the course may be worse. There is an increase in the number of deaths. A serious rise is expected in the fall. When we evaluate all of this, the upcoming process may be serious.”

On the other hand, TTB General Secretary said: “It was expected. The measures were loosened very quickly. Before the World Health Organization declared the end of the pandemic, Turkey lifted the measures, causing the number of cases to increase. This will increase several times with the arrival of autumn. During this period, again, it is necessary to pay close attention to the mask, distance, hygiene”.
