TUIK announces inflation figures for April 2022

TUIK INFLATION IN DECEMBER

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced the inflation figures for April. According to TURKSTAT, consumer inflation for April was 69.97 percent. In March, the rate was 61.14 percent. ENAG, on the other hand, announced April inflation of 156.86 percent.

The CPI increased by 7.25% in April 2022 compared to the previous month and by 31.71% compared to December of the previous year. The CPI increased by 69.97% compared to the same month of the previous year and by 34.46% compared to the twelve-month averages.

According to the annual CPI, 9 main groups incurred lower and 3 main groups showed higher changes

The lowest annual increase was in the communication main group with 18.71%. The other main groups where the increase was lower compared to the same month of the previous year were clothing and footwear with 26.23%, education with 27.73% and health with 35.95%, respectively. In comparison, the main groups with a high increase compared to the same month of the previous year were transportation with 105.86%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 89.10%, household goods with 77.64%, respectively.
