Turkey and Russia decide to start co-operation and joint clinical trials for corona virus vaccine
It is reported that Turkey and Russia will begin cooperation in developing the Covid-19 vaccine. The health ministers of both countries have agreed on sharing experience in vaccine and drug production and co-operation in clinical trials.
Turkey’s Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin KOCA and Russian Minister of Health Dr. Mikhail MURASHKO have agreed to start co-operation and joint clinical trials on the development of the corona virus vaccine. The first meeting between the Scientific Board of the Health Ministry’s TÜSEB Vaccine Institute and Russian scientists is scheduled to be held on Thursday. The decision was made in a video-conference meeting between two parties.
After the first meeting to be held between the Scientific Board of the Health Ministry’s Tüseb Vaccine Institute and Russian scientists, scientists from the two countries will conduct joint work on the vaccine.
In said meeting, Minister KOCA reminded that Turkey had achieved success by using a different treatment algorithm compared to the World Health Organization (who).
He added that the number of cases and deaths had fallen from day to day, and the number of patients recovering had reached 130 thousand, the outbreak was under control and they had started the process of normalization as of June 1.
The Minister also shared following: “22 centers in Turkey continue to work to produce the Covid-19 vaccine. 4 centers have reached the stage of animal experiments. I find the synergy created by scientists from two countries sharing the same geography against the global epidemic very valuable. I want to renew our openness to sharing experience and cooperation in vaccine and drug production”.
Russian Minister of Health Dr. Mikhail Murashko stated that they were working on the synthesis of the corona virus vaccine, they had received positive results in animal experiments and that clinical trials would be started soon.
