Turkey announces curfew on May 16-17-18-19 as pre-caution against covid-19

The Presidential Cabinet, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, discussed issues related to the corona virus outbreak and economic measures via teleconference. Erdogan announced that a curfew would be imposed in 24 provinces on May 16-17-18-19.  Entry-Exit restrictions to Adana, Diyarbakir, Mardin, Trabzon, Ordu, Denizli, Kahramanmaraş, Sanliurfa and Tekirdağ provinces are now removed. He said on May 18 and May 19, markets and online platforms would be open.

The President said that businesses such as grocery stores, butchers, greengrocers, bakeries, dessert shops would be allowed to remain open between 10:00 and 16:00 hours on 18 and 19 May. The good news for 65 and over is this group will be allowed to go out again on May 17th between 08:00 and 14:00 hrs.

The president also shared following:

“Yesterday we lifted the curfew restriction on our citizens over the age of 65 for 4 hours. On Wednesday, the same will be applied for 0-14 years of age and on Friday 15-20 age group will benefit from the same facility. We plan to continue this practice unless there are any adverse circumstances.
