Turkey commemorates lost lives in earthquake on February 6, 2023
The victims of last year’s earthquakes, which occurred on February 6, were remembered at 04:17 in many cities. On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the earthquake, a “silent march” was held in Hatay with the participation of earthquake survivors. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca also participated in the march.
In the Samandağ district of Hatay, those who lost their lives in the earthquakes of February 6, 2023, were remembered with a program. In the memorial where the recitation of the Quran was performed by District Mufti Hasan Fındık, Abdullah Yumurta, the priest of St. Elijah Greek Orthodox Church, prayed for those who lost their lives in the earthquake.
On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the earthquakes, a “silent march” was held in Hatay with the participation of earthquake survivors. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu also participated in the march.
In other cities such as Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, memorial ceremonies and “Silent March” were also held in memory of those who lost their lives.
In the earthquake that affected 11 cities, according to official figures, 53,537 people lost their lives, while 107,213 people were injured.
