Turkey: Highest real return in 2022 was on the Istanbul Stock Market

When the real returns of investment instruments were examined, BIST 100 index was seen as the investment instrument that provided the highest real return in 2022. Those investing in foreign exchange, gold and deposit accounts lost.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has announced the Real Rates of Return of Financial Investment Instruments for the period of December 2022. Accordingly, in 2022, the only investment instrument that provided real returns when reduced to consumer and producer inflation was the BIST 100 index.

The highest monthly real return was realized in the BIST 100 index with rates of 15.09 percent when discounted by the domestic producer price index (D-PPI) and 13.47 percent when discounted by the consumer price index (CPI).
