Antalya, Turkey’s Riviera starts new year with a record in tourism

Antalya which targets 17 million tourists this year, 47 thousand 380 tourists has received by air in the first 5 days of January. Compared to the first 5 days of January last year, an increase of 27.7 percent took place this year.

Antalya had a record of 15 million 644 thousand 108 tourists in 2019. However, in 2020, after the coronavirus epidemic that started in March, serious crisis was experienced in tourism across the globe.

Antalya tourism which entered the recovery process in 2021, aimed to surpass the record of 2019 in 2022, but this time the war between the two most important markets, Russia and Ukraine, began. Despite the war, although the 2019 record could not be surpassed, it was 16 percent behind 2019 with 13 million 432 thousand 593 tourists.

In the meantime Governor Ersin Yazıcı announced the 2023 target as 17 million, ‘the highest number of all years. In line with this announced goal, the first record of 2023 was achieved in the first 5-day period.
