Turkey increases defense industry exports by 20 percent to over US$ 2 billion

Turkey has managed to accomplish substantial progress in defense industry in recent years. The country can now produce many high tech weapons and equipment such as unmanned air vehicles, modern tanks, various missiles and other combat weapons.

Accordingly the country has increased its export figures in this sector as well and it seems that in the coming years this industry will take its place among major sources of foreign revenue.

In fact, it has been announced by Mr. DEMIR, the President of Defense Industry President that Turkey’s exports in said sector reached US$ 2 billion 188 million in 2018 corresponding to an increase of 20 percent as compared to the previous year.

Presidency Defense Industry President Ismail Demir also shared that defense and aviation turnover had increased to 8 billion 761 million dollars corresponding to an increase of 31 percent compared to the previous year.

DEMIR who shared information about the work they did to improve the defense industry  noted that it was of utmost importance for Turkey to develop its own original products and also design solutions for other countries and meet their need in regards.

He added that the defense industry sector in Turkey had achieved great success and become a source of pride for the nation. He said, “”Dependence on other sources in the field of defense industry can return to you as failure in the future. When we say national and domestic industry, we aim to form the cornerstones of trust in our own power.”
