Turkey Spends USD 15 Billion for Oil and Natural Gas in First Quarter 2011

Based on reports issued by Turkish Statistics Institute in the first quarter of current year exports have exceeded 43,337 billion dollars with an increase of 22,4 percent and imports have reached 77 billion dollars with an increase of 44 percent.

Oil & Natural Gas

The money Turkey has paid for importation of oil and natural gas within the first three months of 2011 has exceeded USD 15 billion with an increase of 40% as compared to first quarter of 2010.

The country has spent 8,490 billion dollars for oil imports and 6,399 billion dollars for natural gas imports.

Raw Materials & Consumption Goods

Raw materials imports have increased to 55,123 billion dollars with an increase of 42,5 percent.
Consumption goods imports have gone up to 10 billion dollars with an increase of 42 percent.

Importation of Metals

The amount of imported metals has increased to 3, 180 billion dollars with an increase of 51,7 percent increase. The imports for iron and steel has increased to 3,853 billion dollars with an increase of 51,7 percent

Office Equipment

Turkey has imported office equipment worth of 1,157 billion US Dollars.

Automobiles

The value of imported cars within same period has exceeded 2,729 billion dollars with an increase of 91,6 percent compared to same period last year.

Investment Goods

Imports for investment goods have gone up by 38,3 percent. The country has imported 1 billion 50 million dollars worth of investment goods in the first quarter.

Meat & Food Products

Importation of Meat & Food Products have increased substantially.

Turkey has paid 273 million dollars for importation of livestock as compared to 20 million dollars paid in the same period last year.
The country has imported 292,8 million dollars worth of meat and meat products in the first quarter of 2011 whereas it had imported only 809 thousand dollars for the same group in the same period last year.

Milk & Milk products

Milk and milk products importation has decreased as compared to last year and gone down to 39 million dollars.
Importation of grains has exceeded 971 million dollars with an increase of 117,6 percent.
