Turkey to install 500 megawatts capacity solar power plant in Nigde

It is reported that a solar power plant with a capacity of 500 megawatts will be installed in Niğde-Bor Energy Specialized Industrial Zone. The solar power plant (GES) to be established on an area of ​​2,500 hectares will meet the energy needs of 270 thousand houses in the first place.

Within the framework of the project, for which investors can apply to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources General Directorate of Energy Affairs until 31 January 2019, the right to use the site for the 300 megawatt power plant will be given to the investors who will win the tender for 30 years.

The power plant expected to cost TL 9 billion will produce at least 570 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year and supply the energy requirement of 270 thousand houses by generating at least 570 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year and will make a contribution of TL 200 million to the economy.

When the whole project goes into operation the plant with 500 megawatts capacity will produce a minimum of 2 billion 850 million kilowatt hours annually and contribute to the economy a value of TL 1 billion. The facility will produce 2.8 times the electricity consumption of Niğde and provide for the electricity needs of 1 million 350 thousand houses.

The region, which will be composed of plants produced locally will contribute to the development of the industry and offer employment to approximately 250 thousand people.
