Turkey’s Central Bank evaluates “historical difference in high and low deposits” as risky

The information highlighted by the SÖZCÜ newspaper in its article titled “Historical difference in deposits” about the interest rate gap between high and low amounts exceeding 20 basis points was evaluated by the Central Bank as a “risk factor.”
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) deemed the widening interest rate gap between high and low deposit amounts as a risk.
In the “Summary of the Monetary Policy Committee Meeting” published by the TCMB yesterday, attention was drawn to the issue, stating, “The difference in interest rates offered for low-amount savings deposits compared to high-amount deposits continues. The effects of these developments on the process of balancing domestic demand are closely monitored as a risk factor.”
