The Salt Therapy Center, which opened in 2022 in Iğdır and has hosted 310,000 visitors to date, continues to pique curiosity in the winter months. The galleries formed as a result of excavation work carried out in Tuz Dağı (Salt Mountain) in the Tuzluca district have been transformed into the Salt Therapy Center in stages as a result of the efforts of the Iğdır Governorate.

Located meters below ground, the therapy center, with its walls, ceiling, and floor entirely made of salt, started to receive a high number of visitors after the landscaping and lighting arrangements made by the governorate. Quickly becoming known nationwide, the center is flooded with both local and foreign visitors in the winter as well.

Since its opening in 2022, the center has hosted 310,000 visitors

A visitor said they had come from Izmir and were very surprised when they saw Tuz Dağı. The visitor who came to the Eastern Anatolia Region for sightseeing, said, “I didn’t know such a place existed in our country. It’s incredible that an ancient civilization created something like this and it still stands today. I think it’s a place that needs to be seen by the world.”

Describing the many beauties that caught her attention inside the caves,  she said, “There are places where water meets salt, and salt is much more visible there. And it looks like an architectural structure here, which is amazing. It’s nice that such a heavily used place has continued for thousands of years without being spoiled. We see what humanity can do if it wants.”

“Let not only Turkey but also other countries hear about this”

Another visitor, who said they came to explore the region with friends, found the cave interesting in every aspect, saying: “I cannot describe the feeling we are experiencing here. We entered a completely different world. These things left as columns where technology cannot reach amazed us, what has been done here. We want to spread this. Let not only Turkey but also other countries hear about the existence of such a value here.”
