Turkey’s Central Bank will announce interest rate decision on Thursday

The countdown has started for the interest rate decision of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. Prior to the decision to be announced on Thursday April 27, economists’ forecasts have become clearer. Accordingly, the interest rates, which are at 8.50 percent, are not expected to change this month.

The median expectation for the meeting of the Monetary Policy Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) this month is that the interest rate will be left constant and will be kept at 8.50 percent.

All 17 economists participating in the Forex News survey predicted that the interest rate would not be changed. In the survey, the median interest rate forecast of 5 economists who gave an opinion on the end of 2023 was 25.25 percent. The highest expectation was 50.00 percent and the lowest expectation was 13.50 percent in the year-end interest rate forecasts. The median forecast in last month’s survey was formed at 24.00 percent, while the forecast gap was realized in the 30.00 percent to 17.50 percent band.
