Retaliation from Russia to Germany: Decision to expel German diplomats

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that it had decided to expel a German diplomat in the same way in retaliation for Germany’s decision to expel Russian diplomats. The decision in question was conveyed to the German Ambassador to Moscow who was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 5, 2023.

Russia retaliated against Germany’s decision to expel 30 Russian diplomats for their involvement in intelligence collection activities. In a statement made by the Russian Foreign Ministry, it was reported that in response to the decision of the Berlin administration, a decision had been taken to expel German diplomats in the same way. The statement said: “The German authorities have once again taken the decision to expel Russian diplomats en masse. We strongly condemn these actions of Berlin, which continues to defiantly disrupt the entire structure of Russian-German relations, including the diplomatic dimension.”

DECISION WAS FORWARDED TO THE GERMAN AMBASSADOR

The statement shared said, “Russia, in response to Germany’s hostile actions, has taken the same decision to expel German diplomats from Russia and significantly restrict the maximum number of employees of German diplomatic missions in our country.”

The decision was delivered to the German Ambassador to Moscow who was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 5, 2023.
