Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs has announced that there has been a 250 percent increase in the number of people from Turkey who want to go abroad in the last two years.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that there had been a 250 percent increase in the number of people from Turkey who wanted to go abroad in the last two years.

The official from the Foreign Affairs Commission presented information in the Parliament about the visa shortage experienced when going to foreign countries and said, “The annual visa application of Turkish citizens, which is 1 million, has reached 3 and a half million last year.”

About the difficulties experienced in visa applications the official said, “Before the pandemic, an average of 1 million visa applications were made from our country every year. This figure fell to 200 thousand during the pandemic period.”

He went on to say, “An estimated 3.5 million visa applications have been made since the beginning of 2022. We had three meetings with the ambassadors of Western countries. Some countries have said that the number of visas they issue is higher than in the past. When applications increase, the rejection rates given to our citizens have also increased.”
