KILICDAROGLU MERSIN RALLY

The first of the rallies organized by the Republican People’s Party (CHP) to express their demands for early elections began in Mersin. In the meeting, CHP Chairman KILICDAROGLU said: “I will pull Turkey out of this shame. I want you to make sure of that. There is no place for despair, we will solve all the problems.”

Before his speech at the rally, citizens from different segments of the public took the stand and made speeches explaining/sharing their problems, as well.

Some important messages CHP leader shared were as follows:

“I want everyone to know very well that there is no despair in our book. My fellow citizens have just spoken while I watched in a daze. Does Turkey belonging to the 21st century deserve this situation? If two faculty graduates are unemployed, who does this shame belong to? There is no place for despair, I will solve all the problems.”

In response to “Tayyip resign” slogans he said “He does not need to resign, we will send him, we will send him decently. Someone’s going to leave, and we’re going to send them away.”

The chairman went on to say: “I went to TURKSTAT yesterday at 11 o’clock. Listen carefully, don’t boo here (addressing those who boo the president), just listen to me. They announced the inflation figures and for God’s sake, I’ve come to this point. Are they officials of the state or officials of the palace (meaning reporting to the president)? Do your wife and children not go shopping (meaning the bureaucrats), don’t they look at electricity, water, natural gas bills, don’t they see it when they buy bread? The instruction has arrived (meaning from the palace), the instruction to show the inflation figure low!

Why did I go to TURKSTAT (Statistical Office)?

Why did I go there? They (the government) determine the pension of a pensioner and minimum wage based on figures calculated and announced by the TURKSTAT, that is, they are trying to determine the pension of a citizen with millions based on low figures (calculated at 3.50 percent by Turkstat) – meaning, “so that they can give minimum increases to people. And we have university professors who have calculated same figure at 9 percent. Look at the difference, for God’s sake. They (Turkstat) say 21 percent yearly, the teachers (private group of professors) say 58 percent annually. Which is correct? Those who hold a pen in their hands, those who are sane, those who do not receive instructions from somewhere, are saying the right numbers.

I want all pensioners, all minimum wage earners, all civil servants to know this. I went there to defend your right. For the first time in the history of the Republic, they put a wall in front of us. They think that wall is going to stop us. I am telling you clearly in the presence of the people of Mersin, your walls do not mean anything for us. I’ll take care of all of them. They were complaining about tutelage all the time, right? Yesterday the whole world saw what tutelage is .The officers (bureaucrats) who are under the command of the palace are no longer officers of the state. Of course, the name of the law they they are subject to is “the civil servants’ law”, but the way they apply it in life is the rules of the palace, we will change these rules.

I promise you we will get rid of all kinds of tutelage

I promise in the presence of the people of Mersin that I will free Turkey from all kinds of tutelage. We will also free Turkey from the tutelage of the Palace. We will do this together with our friends.

All in all CHP Leader referred many issues people are having problems with, economy to be in the first place. Apparently the rally attracted big crowds, in fact it is supposed to be the most crowded one in the history of Mersin, as expressed by experts.
