Turkey’s Minister of Transport confirms: “Personal information of 85 million people was stolen”

Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, confirmed the claim that the personal information of 85 million people had been stolen. After a Cabinet meeting in Beştepe, he answered questions from journalists.

When asked by members of the press, “Have the identity details of 85 million citizens been accessed by hackers?” Uraloğlu responded:

“This was a leak from the health system during the pandemic. Apart from that, there’s no new data suggesting people’s current information has been stolen. Unfortunately, it’s true that some data was obtained in a certain way during the pandemic. That could not be prevented at the time.”

108 million personal records stolen

It’s alleged that hackers gathered the stolen data in five different Google Drive files labeled ‘Updated ID,’ ‘Address,’ ‘GSM,’ ‘101m,’ and another ‘GSM’ file. The stolen information reportedly includes the identity numbers of 108,571,832 people, the residential addresses of 82,322,190 people, and the phone numbers of 134,817,279 people.
