Turkey’s Tourism Minister announces re-opening date of Maiden’s Tower in Istanbul

The Maiden’s Tower, one of the landmarks of the Bosphorus, will be opened in the new year after the completion of the restoration works. According to the statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the work initiated by the Ministry on the Maiden’s Tower last year under the guidance of the international principles of restoration and the scientific board established, has come to an end.

Restoration of the historical building will be completed after the reconstruction and replacement of the wooden dome during the “MAHMUT the 2nd period”. Following every stage of the meticulously carried out restoration, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy examined the wooden dome and the works carried out in the structure on site.

Minister Ersoy, who received information about the restoration works from the General Director of Cultural Assets and Museums, and the architect Han in charge, noted that this historical structure, which was hundreds of years old, would become a museum when the restoration was completed.
