Turkey has taken giant steps in tourism industry and is now one of the leading countries globally.

Until a couple of decades ago the country had a shortcoming bed capacity and also an acceptable quality standard in regards to accommodation facilities.

In a short time like 20 years it can offer a much bigger capacity with modern facilities. The sector, on the contrary to countries such as Greece and Spain, is on the rise and generates a major part of foreign exchange revenues.

According to the government program Turkey expects 33 million visitors next year and the authorities calculate a tourism revenue forecast of  US dollars 25,4 for 2013.

The figures mark an 3.8 percent rise in the number of foreign visitors from 31.8 million in 2012 and an 8.1 percent increase in revenues from $23.5 billion.

Turkey claims 6.2 percent share of the European market in the number of visitors and a 5 percent share in terms on revenues.
