Turkey’s tourism revenues reach US$ 5.4 billion in first quarter 2022

According to TURKSTAT data, Turkey’s tourism revenue went up to $ 5 billion 454 million corresponding to 122.4 percent increase in the first quarter, compared to the same period a year ago.

76.5% of the tourism income (excluding mobile phone roaming and marina service expenses) was received from foreign visitors, and 23.5% was received from citizen visitors residing abroad. According to TURKSTAT data; 4 billion 852 million 137 thousand dollars of the expenditures made in this quarter were personal expenditures and 602 million 350 thousand dollars were package tour expenditures.

In the first quarter, all types of spending increased compared to the same quarter last year. Sports, education, culture expenditures increased by 306.6 percent, package tour expenditures (the remaining share for Turkey) increased by 287.7 percent and international transportation expenditures increased by 135.9 percent.

The average spending per night was $ 68

In this quarter, the average overnight stay of foreigners staying overnight was $ 75, and the average overnight stay of citizens residing abroad was $ 51.

Tourism expenses increased by 181 percent

The tourism expense, which consists of the expenses of our citizens residing in the country and visiting other countries, increased by 181.3 percent compared to the same quarter of last year and amounted to 664 million 989 thousand dollars. Of this, personal expenses accounted for 623 million 265 thousand dollars, and package tour expenses accounted for 41 million 724 thousand dollars.
