Turkey’s tourism sector looking forward to arrival of British tourists starting August 1

Following the opening or tourism in Turkey the sector has accomplished its preparations for the new season and expects to have more incoming tourists from abroad. Regarding the issue, President of the Association of UK-Turkish Travel Agencies has heralded that the British tour operators will enter the Turkish market in a serious way starting August 1 as Turkey will be included in the green corridor as of July 10.

TURSAB TV made a program called The “Global Overview of Tourism”, this week, in which the main agenda items of the world tourism sector was discussed in a panel before the audience.

Participants such as Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca, UK Turkish Travel Agencies Association President Engin Sertoğlu, VOA London correspondent Barış Çimen, TÜRSAB Kuşadası BTK president Eda Yurtcan and Turkey Small Hotels Association President (TURKODER) Ertan Ustaoğlu evaluated the future of the sector in the live broadcast.

Fethiye Mayor said they had been carrying out an extraordinary struggle together with all stakeholders in the region since the beginning of the pandemic process and added “in the light of positive data, our current number of cases is close to 0, as a reliable city, we expect our guests.”

He said they had undertaken together with VEFA social group all disinfectant work at social areas and they provided accommodation and transfer services for health workers’ families against possible risks, free of charge.

Speaking about tourism in the region, the mayor also said, “We have opened one of our 2 public beaches. We’ll open the other one in 10 days. 60 percent of our FETOB-affiliated hotels are open. We expect first flights from outside from July 15 and aim to extend the season to December 1. In this context, we also met with 100 travel agencies. In the following days, we will organize the second leg of this meeting in Fethiye.”

After the UK announced its decision on travel and quarantine related to Turkey, some most important explanations on the subject came from the President of the Association of UK-Turkish Travel Agencies. He said, Turkey will be included in the green corridor on July 10 and the British tour operators would enter the Turkish market in a serious way, starting August 1.” (TA)
