Turkey’s Zafer Party is on the agenda in UK: Some liken it to UKIP of UK

The Times, one of the most respected newspapers in the UK, has brought Ümit ÖZDAĞ, who has attracted attention with his recent statements, to its headlines. The newspaper published an analysis, likening ÖZDAĞ and Zafer Party to the right-wing UKIP, in the UK. ÖZDAĞ, the leader of the Victory Party, who recently came to the agenda with his statements, spoke to the British media…

A comprehensive news story was published about Özdağ, who spoke to the Sunday Times, one of the most widely read newspapers in the country. Speaking to the newspaper’s Turkey correspondent Louise Callaghan, the newspaper used the headline “Turkey’s UKIP used the economic crisis to whip up hatred for refugees” about Özdağ’s interview.

The paper included following content in the post covering the interview: “A new political party in Turkey blames refugees for the economic crisis, while Syrians and Afghans live in fear. For many years, Ümit Özdağ was a demagogue in Turkish politics, a nationalist who focused on the naiveness of the Turkish people. Now, with the Turkish economy in crisis and the public’s view of millions of refugees changing, he is gathering support with a new message: Send each of them back to where they came from. “He included each of them in his review”.

The Times said, “Özdağ and the small but rising Victory Party began to make a big impact and began to attract larger parties to their anti-foreigner social media campaigns. He showed a soft target for the difficulties experienced by the Turks in these campaigns.”

Speaking to the newspaper in Istanbul, Ozdag said: “There are a lot of problems in Turkey and the refugee crisis is the biggest problem. This is not only a national security issue, but also one of the most important reasons for the current economic crisis.” The newspaper also noted that Özdağ, who taught at the university, had good English.

In the article, it was stated that Özdağ’s influence on social media was also increasing. “Although his party was founded last year and only received 1.5 percent of the vote in the polls, Ozdag’s influence is growing,” the article said. Social media platforms regularly set a record for sharing, according to Bloomberg’s analysis, surpassing the number of likes on Erdogan’s shares. Özdağ also said that he was not leading a troll army.

In the interview Özdağ asked the journalist, “Do you want to be harassed walking down the street in the evening? Do you want to be worried and wonder if you will be raped when you go home late at night in my hometown?” It was also mentioned in the article that Özdağ had made some allegations throughout the interview and that these allegations were intelligence sources.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Unluckily, it is true that this has been a MAJOR burden on Turkey – in terms of both economical and social problems. The WEST has found the “clever” way of getting around this problem by funding Turkey a few billion euros to take care of the refugees (talking about millions of them here) so as to ensure the comfort of EU countries is not jeopardised.
