Turkish automotive giant Ford Otosan sells 373,000 vehicles in 2016
Turkish automotive industry is known as the locomotive sector of Turkish economy together with the construction sector. In fact there are some large companies operating on a global level in both sectors. Ford Otosan is certainly among them and in fact the leading one.
Ford Otosan which employs about 11 thousand people is worth USD 5.3 billion. This figure is considered to be quite important even on a global scale. We are talking about a company that sells to 82 countries in the world with production capacity of 455 thousand vehicles.
The company increased its sales in 2016 to TL 18 billion with an increase of 9 percent as compared to previous year. Otasan realized exports worth USD 3.9 billion in 2016 securing number one position in top exporters list for Turkey.
The management is now planning their strategies on “industrialization”, “sales” and “R & D” in the forthcoming period and they are expecting growth in these three areas. They are working hard on autonomous driving, electric / connected vehicles and intelligent transportation solutions. They are focused on digital technologies, in particular.
