Turkish Automotive Industry Hits Record-High Exports in Early 2025

In the first four months of 2025, Turkey’s automotive industry achieved its highest-ever export figures for a January–April period, reaching over $12.6 billion. This represents a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year and accounts for 14.7% of the country’s total exports.
Turkey’s overall exports during this period rose to $86.25 billion, with April alone seeing an 8.5% year-over-year increase. The automotive sector has shown steady growth in recent years, breaking records in three consecutive January–April periods—highlighting a strong post-pandemic rebound and increasing global demand for Turkish-made vehicles and components.
Germany remained the top export destination, followed by France, the UK, Spain, and Italy. Notably, Germany also saw the largest increase in value, indicating deeper trade ties. Domestically, Kocaeli led all Turkish provinces in automotive exports, underscoring its industrial importance alongside cities like Istanbul and Bursa.
The sector’s rise has been supported by favorable international developments, such as the softening of U.S. import tariffs under President Donald Trump and a more stable global trade environment. These conditions, combined with Turkey’s growing presence in both vehicle manufacturing and supply parts, have positioned the country as a key player in the global automotive market.
