Rutte stated that the yearly total trade volume between the two countries was above $ 7 billion and added “We held talks with President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. These talks were not only on political issues. We also took up how trade and economic relations between the two countries can be increased”.

On the other hand Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan is reported to have commented as follows;

“This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Turkey and Holland. The total trade volume as of the end of last year reached $ 7.3 billion.
