Turkey’s government announces “Savings and Efficiency Package” in the public sector

Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz has announced a new package focused on “Savings and Efficiency in the Public Sector”. According to this package, the following measures will be implemented:
– Suspension of the use of foreign-made vehicles
– Permanent cessation of the purchase and construction of housing facilities
– Ensuring new employment of personnel equivalent to retirees
– Imposition of limits on board member salaries
– Restriction of shuttle services for public sector employees
– Limitation of expenses for temporary assignments abroad
Additionally, administrative and legal regulations will be enacted to ensure the implementation of these measures. Administrative penalties and fines will be imposed in cases of non-compliance with the savings directive.
The objective of this package is to enhance efficiency in the public sector, reduce budget deficits, contribute to the fight against inflation, and manage public expenditures more effectively.
