Turkish Parliament passes “Multiple Bars” law opposed by 80 bar associations

The 28 provision “multi-bar” proposal submitted to the Assembly with the signature of the AKP and MHP was adopted in the General Assembly and signed into law.

The proposal for the “multiple Bar Association”, which was opposed by the Bar Association of Turkey and 80 bar associations, and which the opposition said “No”, was adopted by the AKP and MHP in spite of all objections, and became law. While 417 MPs participated in the electronic vote, 251 MPs voted “accept” and 163 MPs voted “reject”. When the law comes into force, more than one bar can be established in Istanbul, Ankara and Istanbul.
