An important discovery in the treatment of ALS from Hande OZDINLER, a Turkish scientist

Dr. Dr. Hande OZDINLER and his team, together with Richard Silverman, the inventor of the drug Lyrica, discovered the first chemical substance that heals motor neurons that have died in the brain. This substance, called NU-9, brought the deceased motor neurons to the level of healthy neurons after 60 days of treatment. The team is preparing for further research on this promising substance for the start of clinical trials.

In addition to ALS, upper motor neuron damage also leads to other motor neuron diseases such as hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) and primary laretal sclerosis (PLS). Therefore, their recovery is very important for many diseases.

In ALS, the nerve cells that initiate movement in the brain (upper motor neurons) and the nerve cells that control November in the spinal cord (lower motor neurons) degenerate.
