Turkish Shipbuilding Industry Aims to Increase Its Competitive Strength

It is impossible for the shipbuilding industry to reach desired level without reducing dependence on imports. The industry aims to supply majority of 3,000 pieces of different inputs provided currently by imports, within the country and to develop R&D. The industry is continuing efforts to establish a “ship equipment specialized zone” to bring the domestic equipment production to the desired level.

Turkey is about to provide EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) report. In this specialized zone approximately 3,000 different inputs will be manufactured and imports dependency will be reduced. This is the primary goal of the sector.
