Warning from AFAD ahead of snowfall: Do not go out unless it is mandatory

SNOWFALL WARNING FROM AFAD

AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Body) has issued warnings before the expected snowfall today. AFAD’s statement said that cold and rainy weather from the Balkans was expected to be effective throughout the country, starting from the west.

According to the statement, starting from Monday, Turkey will be affected by the cold and rainy weather that will come through the Black Sea. This will cause heavy snowfall in places. There is no danger of agricultural frost in the Aegean, Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia until Thursday. There is a danger of avalanches in high and steep areas with snow cover in the east, with strong and heavy snowfalls expected this week.

According to the weather forecast, AFAD issued the following warnings:

Danger of icing and frostbite
Do not go outside unless it is mandatory.
Weather forecast reports should be followed before going out.
Those in need of an ongoing treatment (dialysis, childbirth, etc.) should inform the Provincial Health Directorate and health institutions in the provinces to which they are connected of their status.
Icicles formed on roofs should be avoided.
Preference should be given to dresses that will keep the body warm.
Hands should not be kept in pockets when walking against the danger of slipping and falling.
It should be walked with small and balanced steps.
Preference should be given to shoes whose sole is not slippery.
The mobile phones battery and the mobile charging unit, if any, should be kept fully charged, and there should be a spare battery for the radio and flashlight.
