AFAD issues what to do list for citizens to drive in winter conditions

AFAD has issued a “what to do list” for those who will drive on the road in winter conditions. The list covers following suggestions.

To protect yourself while driving

Make sure necessary equipment (chain and tow rope, etc.) are available in the vehicle and snow tires are used.
Travel plans should be reviewed / alternative road plans should be prepared.
If you are planning to go on a trip, information about the road and traffic should be obtained.
Family and relatives should be informed of the location and route.
Attention should be paid to the “black ice” which is a transparent and slippery layer of ice that is not always seen.
Traffic rules and restrictions must be strictly observed.
Preference should be given to public transport.
The headlights should also be kept on during the day.
A sufficient amount of fuel must be put in the vehicle.
If a particularly large vehicle is used in traffic, one should wait in a safe place until the road conditions become suitable.
It is necessary to avoid using roads/streets with a high slope.
One should not fail to wear a seat belt.
One should not neglect to have a disaster and emergency bag in the vehicle as well.
