The Meteorology General Directorate (MGM) has provided its weekly weather forecast, indicating a decrease in temperatures starting today. On January 10, Wednesday, Istanbul is expected to experience a mix of rain and snow. Meteorology Specialist Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen also shared the probability of snowfall for the metropolis. While Turkey entered the new year with temperatures above seasonal norms, people want to knowt when snow will fall in Istanbul. The Meteorology General Directorate has released its weekly weather forecast for January 4-10. The temperature, which has been above seasonal norms, will noticeably decrease starting today in the northern, central, and western regions.

Rain and showers will affect Istanbul until Saturday (January 6), according to meteorological data. The weather is expected to return to normal on Friday (January 5) and Saturday (January 6), with precipitation resuming from Sunday onwards.

On January 10, Wednesday, in the mega-city, as temperatures drop, a mix of rain and snowfall is anticipated. Meteorology Specialist Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen shared the probability of snowfall for Istanbul, stating, “Cold air and snowfall extending from Central Europe will affect Turkey on January 9-10-11. The impact will be more significant in the inner and eastern regions. There is an 85% probability of this system occurring, with a 75% probability in the Marmara Region. The likelihood of snowfall in Istanbul is still at 65%.”
