Warning from Meteorology: White nightmare will last for 5 days, icing and avalanche expected

There will be snowfall throughout the country for 5 days. The five-day snowfall was also reflected in the maps of the General Directorate of Meteorology. An avalanche warning has been issued in high areas.

Snowfall is showing its effect throughout the country. According to the 5-day weather forecast published by Meteorology, Turkey has come under the influence of a new rainy weather system, to be effective over the weekend. The Marmara Region, including Istanbul, the Central Anatolia Region, the Eastern Anatolia Region and the Southeastern Anatolia Region will see a lot of snow. It is expected that more effective snowfall will be observed in Istanbul with the new system.

The General Directorate of Meteorology warned against snowfall and icing. According to the meteorology, which used the statement “Beware of heavy rains”, the air temperature in coastal areas is expected to be around seasonal norms, and in inland areas it is expected to be 2-4 degrees below normal.

AVALANCHE WARNING

It is predicted that the inland and eastern parts will see haze and fog in places along with icing and frost. There will be an avalanche risk warning on the sloping slopes with high snow cover in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the southeast of Eastern Anatolia.

Istanbul’s Governor shared a message saying “Dear citizens, according to the information received from our Regional Directorate of Meteorology as of 16.00, sleet (and snow) is expected in Istanbul on Saturday and Sunday. Please be cautious and careful. We will constantly inform you about the developments.”

SNOW AND COLD WEATHER TO BE EFFECTIVE IN ANKARA AS WELL

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş said on his social media account, “Our city is currently under a very heavy snowfall. We are on duty in the field with 920 vehicles and 2242 colleagues. I remind all our citizens to be careful and cautious.”

After the snowfall, which has been effective for two days in Ankara, icing occurred on the sidewalks and roads. There were disruptions in transportation due to the snow and snow that were effective throughout the province.
