Warnings from Meteorology and AFAD: Heavy rain will affect 23 provinces

RAIN AND STORM IN ANKARA

Meteorology and AFAD issued warnings for heavy and strong rain in 23 provinces in the Eastern, Southeastern, Black Sea, Mediterranean, and Aegean regions. Here are the current weather forecasts for each province…

The General Directorate of Meteorology announced the 7-day weather forecast. In a statement made on social media accounts, following was stated: “It is predicted that temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms nationwide, will decrease by 4 to 6 degrees in the central and western regions starting from midweek (February 13-19, 2024).”

STRONG RAIN WARNING

According to the forecast made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, showers and thunderstorms, which will start from this evening, will be severe in some central districts of Antalya and strong and very strong in the western districts and Serik at night.

The precipitation will diminish after tomorrow night.

In the south of Isparta and the west of Burdur, very heavy rain is expected starting from this evening.

Citizens are urged to be cautious and take precautions against adverse events such as flash floods, waterlogging, transportation disruptions, sudden strong winds, and brief storms.

WARNING FROM AFAD

AFAD announced that very heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected in the central districts of Antalya and the south of Isparta starting from Monday evening, February 12, and warned citizens accordingly. The sharing from AFAD’s official X account is as follows:

“According to the latest information received from the Meteorology and evaluations made; on Monday, February 12, starting from the evening hours; very heavy and occasionally severe rain is expected in the central districts of Antalya (Konyaaltı, Döşemealtı, Kepez, Muratpaşa, Aksu, Kemer); in the western districts (Kumluca, Finike, Demre, Kaş) and after nightfall in Serik; local heavy and occasionally very heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the south of Isparta (Sütçüler, Aksu, Yenişarbademli, Eğirdir) and the east of Burdur (Bucak, Çeltikçi, Ağlasun). We strongly remind our citizens to be cautious against adverse events such as flash floods, waterlogging, lightning, hail, sudden strong winds, and brief storms.”

Orange Code: Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Muğla, Burdur, Isparta, Antalya.

Yellow Code: İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Ardahan, Erzurum, Kars, Iğdır, Ağrı, Muş, Bitlis, Van, Şırnak, Hakkari.
