METEOROLOGY-TURKEY

According to the latest forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, snowfall will lose its intensity in the west but will continue in central and eastern regions. On Saturday, rain showers around Istanbul and Izmir will give way to sunny skies, and temperatures will begin to rise gradually. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for five provinces.

Snowfall Will Persist

According to the forecast:

  • Rain and intermittent precipitation are expected across Marmara, Aegean, western and eastern parts of the Mediterranean, northwestern and eastern parts of Central Anatolia, the Black Sea region, and Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.
  • Rain and showers will be seen along the coastal areas, Marmara, and Southeastern Anatolia.
  • In other regions, sleet and snow are expected.
  • Precipitation is expected to be locally strong in Rize, Trabzon, and eastern parts of Giresun.

Temperatures, currently below seasonal norms, will gradually rise starting from the west.
Winds will generally blow from the north, and from the south in the east, at light to moderate strength.
Strong and brief gusts (40–60 km/h) are expected in:

  • The Black Sea region (westerly winds),
  • The eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia (southerly),
  • And in the interior of the Mediterranean and southern Central Anatolia (northwesterly).

Yellow Alert for 5 Provinces

A yellow code weather warning has been issued for:

  • Bolu
  • Kastamonu
  • Zonguldak
  • Bartın
  • Karabük

Residents in these areas should remain cautious against heavy rain, strong winds, and snowfall.

Additionally, agricultural frost is expected tonight in:

  • Central Anatolia
  • Inner parts of the Black Sea
  • Northern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia

Farmers are advised to take precautions.

MARMARA

  • Mostly cloudy with rain and showers, and sleet or snow in higher elevations.
  • Edirne: 6°C to 14°C – Cloudy, intermittent rain at night
  • Istanbul: 6°C to 11°C – Cloudy, intermittent rain from morning

AEGEAN

  • Cloudy with rain showers across the region.
  • Sleet and snow expected in Kütahya and Afyonkarahisar.
  • Izmir: 6°C to 16°C – Showers in the afternoon
  • Muğla: 0°C to 14°C – Showers in the afternoon

MEDITERRANEAN

  • Partly cloudy with rain expected in the western and eastern extremes.
  • Sleet and snow expected in Toros Mountains and Lake District.
  • Antalya: 9°C to 19°C – Showers in western parts during afternoon

CENTRAL ANATOLIA

  • Cloudy with sleet and snow in northwestern and eastern parts.
  • Strong winds (40–60 km/h) expected in the southern parts.
  • Ankara: -5°C to 5°C – Sleet in the afternoon, snow in higher elevations

WESTERN BLACK SEA

  • Cloudy with intermittent precipitation.
  • Rain on the coast, sleet and snow inland.
  • Strong westerly winds expected (40–60 km/h).

CENTRAL & EASTERN BLACK SEA

  • Cloudy with intermittent rain and snow.
  • Rain on the coast; sleet and snow inland.
  • Heavy precipitation expected in Rize, Trabzon, and eastern Giresun.
  • Strong northwesterly winds expected (40–60 km/h).

EASTERN ANATOLIA

  • Cloudy with intermittent sleet and snow across the region.
  • Strong southerly winds expected (40–60 km/h).
  • Kars: -1°C to 5°C – Cloudy with intermittent sleet and snow

SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA

  • Cloudy with intermittent rain and showers.
  • Higher elevations may experience sleet and snow.
  • Diyarbakır: 2°C to 13°C – Rain and showers, sleet in high areas
  • Gaziantep: 2°C to 15°C – Rain and showers, sleet in high areas
  • Mardin: 3°C to 11°C – Rain and showers
