WHO RECOMMENDS COMPULSORY VACCINATION

Hans Kluge, the European Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), said that the vaccination requirement was a last resort in the fight against Covid-19. In Europe, many countries including Germany, are increasingly discussing the mandatory Covid-19 vaccine. Finally, Austria announced that it would make vaccination mandatory starting from February 1, 2022 with a decision that caused protests.

Director Kluge stressed that the vaccination requirement was a last resort, “but it should be applied only when all the appropriate options for increasing vaccination have been exhausted”.

The WHO director noted that the public’s trust in the authorities should be taken into account, adding that the method adopted in one society might not be effective in another.

Indonesia, Micronesia and Turkmenistan are among the countries where vaccination is mandatory for all adults. Greece, on the other hand, announced that the vaccine would be mandatory for those over the age of 60 from next month.
