World is talking about tension during Trump’s meeting! Zelensky’s ‘apology’ statement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had no intention of apologizing to US President Donald Trump for the tense meeting, saying, “I respect the President and the American people. But I’m not sure we did anything wrong.”
In an interview with a US television station, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made comments about the tense meeting with US President Donald Trump. When asked if he was considering apologizing to Trump, Zelensky replied, “No, I respect the President and the American people. But I think we need to be honest, and I’m not sure we did anything wrong.”
Zelensky noted that the tension seen in front of the cameras was not good for either side, stating, “I was very clear, but I cannot change Ukraine’s stance towards Russia.” He emphasized his great respect for democracy and the free press, but added, “However, sometimes I think there are things we should discuss without the press.”
Zelensky stated, “I am always open to the media, but there are very sensitive issues. I just want to be honest and I want our partners to understand the situation correctly.”
“Americans are our best friends”
Despite the tension, Zelensky confirmed that the US was a friend of Ukraine, saying, “It is very clear that Americans are our best friends, Europeans are our best friends, and we are enemies of Putin and Russia.”
When asked if he thought his relationship with Trump could improve, Zelensky answered, “Yes,” pointing out the strong ties between the US and Ukraine. He noted that these ties were much deeper than the individual relationship between the two presidents, stating, “There are strong relations between our people as well. That’s why I always convey our people’s thanks to the American people. This is very, very important, and I apologize for that. We wanted to have strong relations, and I’m sure we will succeed in doing so.”
Zelensky said that they were ready to sign an agreement with Putin but stated that the condition for doing so would be “a fair and lasting peace,” adding, “We are ready for peace, but we must be in a strong position.”
