World monkey pox alert: First deaths recorded in Europe and South America

Monkey pox disease, which has been detected in dozens of countries, including Turkey, has claimed lives in Europe and South America in recent months as the world struggles with the Corona virus epidemic. The first deaths from the virus have occurred in Spain and Brazil, experts have warned.

While there has been concern about the monkey pox virus all over the world for some time, the World Health Organization had declared a “global emergency” for the monkey pox outbreak seen in dozens of countries, including Turkey.

Finally, WHO announced that there were more than 19 thousand cases of monkey pox in 76 countries.

And from Europe, which has become the epicenter of the epidemic, there has been some frightening news. While the first death due to monkey pox occurred in Spain, it was noted that this death was the first caused by the epidemic in Europe and the second death outside Africa.

In a statement, the Spanish Ministry of Health said that 4,298 monkey pox viruses had been detected in the country. The statement said that the highest number of cases of monkey pox worldwide had been detected in Spain. It was also reported that there had been 120 people hospitalized in Spain due to monkey pox.

FIRST DEATH ANNOUNCED IN BRAZIL

Another frightening news came from Brazil. The first death in Latin American countries occurred when a person lost his life for the first time due to the monkey pox virus in Brazil. The deceased was a 44-year-old male patient living in the city of Uberlândia in the state of Minas Gerais.

The number of cases of monkey pox in the country has increased to 1066, the Brazilian Ministry of Health said in a statement, adding that most of the cases were seen in Sao Paulo. After the announcement of the first death in Brazil, the authorities also announced the creation of an emergency committee due to the increasing number of cases.

Brazil is the country where the most cases of monkey pox are observed on the continent of north and South America, after the United States.
