“Today is a historic day for Turkey. As six different political parties, we have come together for a historical work that Turkey has been hoping to see for many years.

Our country is experiencing one of the deepest political and economic crises in the history of the republic. Social, political and economic problems are increasing every day and are having a heavy impact. Undoubtedly, the most important reason for this crisis is the arbitrary and rule-free administration implemented under the name of the ‘Presidential System of Government’.

As the parties that drafted the “Agreement for Reinforced Parliamentary System”, we have the determination to build a fair a “strong, liberal, democratic system” in which legislative active and participatory, transparent and accountable administration, impartial and independent judiciary and the separation of powers are established.

As six political parties, our common responsibility is to overcome this crisis by compromise and in unity, to solve our deep problems on the basis of pluralism by expanding the field of democratic politics. It is precisely with this belief and determination that we have carried out intensive work on the text of the “Memorandum on the Strengthened Parliamentary System” in order to strengthen the democratic rule of law, as well as to strengthen the legislative, executive and judicial branches. We are not based on polarization, but on consultation and compromise.- We have agreed to share with our nation the text of the memorandum on the new system that we have agreed on with the public, on February 28.”
