Turkey's exports increase in first half 2017

The exports figures of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly for June 2017 were announced in Gaziantep. Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet SIMSEK said that Turkey had achieved 5.7 per cent growth over the past 15 years. Stating that Turkey was not afraid of competition and would display a more powerful performance in a fair environment, the minister noted that even in difficult times there was an increase in exports.

Speaking at an opening meeting organized by TİM, Mehmet BUYUKEKSI, the President of Turkish Exporters Assembly, said an export figure of US$ 12.1 billion had been realized in June with an increase of 1.8. BUYUKEKSI stated that they had declared 2017 “the breakthrough year” as the exporters of Turkey and said “We can proudly say we have been increasing our exports for the last 8 months, since November. We managed to increase our exports in June as well, even though 2 working days were missing due to the Ramadan holiday. It is a great source of happiness for us that we have been able to achieve a steady increase since the beginning of 2017”.

He said “Exports in the first six months of the year were US$ 76 billion 383 million with an increase of 8.2 percent and exports of the last 12 months were $ 147 billion 329 million with an increase of 4.5 percent” and added “We accepted 2017 as the year of breakthrough in exports. As the problems between the countries are resolved one by one by our government and the exporters are provided by new incentives at a time when the world trade is on the rise again, we will show our best performance to make the best of these opportunities. We have already increased our share of the world trade from 0,89 % to 0,9 %.

According to TURKSTAT, exports increased by 9.5% in the first 5 months of the year according to Turkstat, while the problems between the countries were solved one by one by the petty officers, while the exporters were given a new one every day for incentives given to each of them. The share of world trade has increased from 8.9 to 9. The share of US imports has risen from 3.1 to 3.1, while our share of the EU’s imports has increased from 1.28 to 1.29.

Automotive sales figure was recorder as the leading performance in June by US$ 2.5 billion corresponding to an increase of 16.4 %. The automotive sector was followed by ready-to-wear and ready-to-wear apparel with 1.4 billion dollars and chemical items with 1.3 billion dollars respectively. The highest increase in exports in June was in industrial products; 178 percent achieved the ship and yacht sector and 63 percent achieved by olive and olive oil sector.”
