Nuclear Energy Summit held in Istanbul

Istanbul has started to host the preliminary meetings of the 3rd Nuclear Safety Summit to be held in 2014 in the Netherlands.

It is reported that the meeting is hosting representatives from around 50 countries and many other international organizations.

In the meeting participants are to discuss topics such as Illegal nuclear trade and prevention of nuclear terrorism, safety of nuclear materials.

The meeting is a Istanbul is a preliminary preparation for the 3rd Nuclear Safety Summit which is scheduled to be held in The Hague of the Netherlands, in 2014.

Delivering a speech at the opening of the pre-Summit in Istanbul, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Murat Mercan gave messages of determination regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

. Mercan voiced a universal hope for a nuclear arms-free world as well as a world which is free from other weapons of mass destruction and added that “it’s a common responsibility for all countries to support the nuclear non-proliferation treaty”.

Reaching an irreversible and certifiable nuclear disarmament is possible and achieving such a target is a common responsibility of all. None of the countries in the world could attain such a goal alone and overcome the difficulties related to this, ” told Mercan to the audience in Istanbul.

The preliminary meeting for the 3rd Nuclear Safety Summit will last two days.
