President Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the group meeting of his party. Erdogan gave the message that the elections would be held on May 14, and said, “This nation will do what it is required, on May 14.”

Down below are some highlights from Erdogan’s important speech at said group meeting on March 1.

“It is (will be) our duty to call those responsible to account, judicially and politically. Today, the leader of an opposition party has said that we are directing the judiciary… It’s a shame. God knows how Erdogan behaves on this issue, you don’t understand. Correct yourself first. Know well that the time is coming for these people (citizens) to do what they need to, on May 14th. They will never give premium to these talking through their hat.

We will remove the debris, we are dressing the wounds. We will mend broken hearts. We will put a future in front of our people. Asking for blessings (forgiveness) is not our weakness. It is has to do with the sincerity between us and our nation. Those passing by the region like an earthquake tourist can’t understand this attachment (emotional). We have not deigned to respond to them since the beginning of the earthquake. We are concerned about lives. They (opposition) are focused on own benefits (to wear us out).

We note down every perception (negative) that they want to create. We will share these notes when the time comes. Now our only agenda is the earthquake; the suffering caused by the earthquake… and how to make up for all. We are only talking to our people. We will not be interested in anything else until we eliminate the victimization of our citizens. We are referring those who cannot raise their heads to stop focusing on own benefits and return to the real agenda of the country, even during these difficult days, to our nation.”
