Share of Turkey’s wage earners in total national income is at lowest level
The Turkish economy grew by 5.6 percent in 2022, but the share of wage earners in the economy fell to the lowest level since 1998, when the authority started to record concerned data.
According to TURKSTAT data, while labor force pay increased by 82.7 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year, net operating income increased by 115.2 percent.
The share of labor force payouts in GDP was 26.5 percent in 2022. This rate fell to 25.2 percent in the last quarter.
According to Bloomberg, 25.2 percent is the lowest level since 1998, when labor payouts were recorded.
In 1998, the share received by wage earners was recorded as 28.8 percent, while in subsequent years it decelerated between 29-36 percent.
