3,700 Illegal Constructions Erected in Kaş district of Antalya, in 5 Years

It was reported that 3,719 illegal constructions had been built in the last 5 years in the district of Kaş in Antalya. The report also noted that the AK Party-led Kaş Municipality planned to gradually demolish illegal structures exceeding a total size of 349,000 square meters.

It was reported a very high number of illegal buildings were erected  in Antalya-Kaş

“Kaş, is known to be one of Turkey’s most important tourism centers with its rich natural and cultural heritage. However it has frequently come to the forefront in recent years with unplanned and illegal constructions. Kaş, which has not escaped illegal construction in olive groves, natural and archaeological sites, and special environmental protection areas, has an agenda for demolition tenders related to 3,719 illegal structures identified since 2018.”

The report also noted that the AK Party-led Kaş Municipality planned to gradually demolish illegal structures exceeding a total size of 349,000 square meters. It was also stated in the report that the demolition process was planned to be completed by March 31, 2024, and an auction would be held for this purpose.

The highest number of illegal structures was built in 2022.
